Computer Network Simulators and Emulators

Speaker:  Gururaj H L – Mysuru, India
Topic(s):  Networks and Communications

Abstract

In regard to network testing, the terms emulation and simulation are often used interchangeably. In most cases, either term will generally get the point across, but there’s a big difference between a network emulator and network simulator, both practically and semantically. Insight of few network simulators (like NS2, Omnet) and emulators (ns3 and others) are demonstrated.  In addition, tools allow you to debug and resolve existing implementations, e.g., runtime problems, more quickly and easily compared to traditional methods (e.g., analyzing print outputs and log files).
