Unpacking the Future

Speaker:  Jacquelyn F Morie – Los Angeles, CA, United States
Topic(s):  Human Computer Interaction

Abstract

What are the technologies coming in the near future that could change the way we live, connect and interact on a global scale? It is a distributed future, and we can be sure that it will include ways to meet face-to-face instantly with anyone around the globe via digital and even physical avatars. This talk will explore advances in this domain, as well as how we will inhabit those avatars, and how this inhabitation might both benefit and challenge us. What senses will move with us into this future? Can we tap into our neurological processing? How fast might these changes come? Will it mean an evolutionary leap for humankind or will the world become technologically stratified? Audience members will be asked to share their visions and thoughts  following the main talk.
