Deep Learning and Neural Networks 101: Getting Started with AI

Speaker:  Anis Koubaa – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Topic(s):  Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural language processing

Abstract

Deep Learning and Neural Networks are currently the world's most exciting technologies that have substantially affected almost all of the Information and Communication Technologies areas (ITC). An increasing number of researchers from different research areas are being more and more interested in AI-related topics, each in its area of expertise, including but not limited to computer vision, natural language processing, cyber-security, data analytics, communication, and networking, to name a few. However, learning about deep learning seems to be scary and it requires a very long path and steep learning curve. In this lecture, I will provide insights on how to start with building capacity in deep learning and neural network. I will illustrate through simple and intuitive examples to introduce the concepts of the neural network beyond abstract mathematical models. At the end of the lecture, the audience will be able to have a clear understanding of the mechanics of neural networks and will find it easier to drive his way towards AI-related research aeras.
