Abstract
This lecture addresses the comparative strong issues in using metaheuristics for solving complex problems. A summary of competences for searching in difficult landscapes will be presented in the talk. Through application examples, we will illustrate how important metaheuristics are in present Science, and how much transference to Industry can we get out of them. Type of techniques, ongoing lines of research, journal impact, interest of companies, and open research lines will highlight the importance of metaheuristics in daily R&D activities throughout the world.About this Lecture
