Image Processing in Data Science: Current prospects and future challenges
Speaker: Abbas Cheddad – Karlskrona, SwedenTopic(s): Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural language processing
Abstract
This lecture delves into the discipline of digital image processing (DIP). It highlights several applications of DIP in the contemporary world. The applications range from handwritten string recognition, to medical and molecular medicine, to aerospace engineering, to multimedia security, to name a few. The purpose of this talk is to rekindle interest in this area of computer engineering and to introduce its potential and vast application domains for those who have limited picture about DIP in data science. DIP coupled with deep/machine learning has shown unprecedented gain in computer vision, robotics, pattern recognition, and computer graphics. As a computer scientist community, it is inevitable to get some exposure into DIP as it is highly likely we encounter it across our path for knowledge.About this Lecture
