Abstract

Organizations are witnessing a constant barrage of cyber-attacks in the form of ransom ware, phishing, malware, botnets, insider threats, and many others. The situation is untenable and getting worse day-by-day. Cyber adversaries are becoming more advanced, often utilizing intelligent algorithms and technologies to steal personal data, disrupt critical networks, and corrupt communications. This talk introduces the topic of Nature-inspired Cyber Defense and discusses some of the most important work in the area, with a focus on maintaining trustworthiness, Autonomous threat detection and resolution, cyber immunity, and resilience. This talk also includes the discussion on the fundamentals, latest developments, and applications of nature-inspired algorithms in Cyber Defense. In particular, the talk covers the area of implementation of soft computing approaches in Cyber Security, with discussion of metamorphic viruses, immune-based cyber defense, Advanced Persistent Threats, and Cyber Kill Chain.
