Recent Trends in Image Processing and Its Applications

Speaker:  Parameshachari B D – Karnataka, India
Topic(s):  Computational Theory, Algorithms and Mathematics

Abstract

Image processing is an analysis and manipulation of a digitized image to improve its quality using mathematical operations using any form an image such as photograph or video frame; the output of image processing may be either an image or set of characteristics or parameters related to the image. The digital image processing consists of the manipulation of images using digital computers. Image processing use has been increasing exponentially in the last a few decades and its applications ranges from medicine to entertainment, passing by geological processing and remote sensing. Some current trends in image processing are: automatic image enhancement and restoration, automatic object detection, classification and recognition, information extraction, text recognition, automatic object segmentation, steganography, and image in-painting.
