Abstract
There is a growing demand for transparency and accountability in research evaluation, research agencies developed a comprehensive list of evaluation tools and techniques and explained when each might be most useful. The primary aim of this lecture is to bring deeper insight in the description, planning and evaluation of research. The complex research system has been divided up into a number of dimensions from which the researchers and research groups can select when defining their goals and aspirations.
The lecture will discuss various evaluation tools and techniques. It covers when each might be useful; significance of different approaches; it explains the basic component research such as Citation, ISI- Institute of Scientific Information ( Web of Science), Impact factor, Journal Citation Reports, SJR – SCImago Journal Rank, h-index, etc. The choice of an appropriate evaluation method for research is in line with the objective of the evaluation. The evaluation takes into account the diversity between disciplines.
