Abstract
A smart city is a city which invests in ICT enhanced governance and participatory processes to develop appropriate public service, transportation, and energy infrastructure, that can ensure sustainable socio-economic development. Smart cities can provide enhanced quality-of-life and intelligent management of environment and natural resources. On a larger scale for smart cities, securing data is not the only concern. We also need to plan and develop a security and privacy mechanism to secure overall cyber infrastructure involved. This talk will focus on the issues for users, service providers, and regulators connected to smart cities and the cyber infrastructure in any capacity. This research talk will explore some interesting cybersecurity challenges and provide the proposed research scheme as a response to some of the challenges. It will serve as a step towards the exploration and investigation of contemporary cybersecurity challenges, and design and development of tools and techniques for providing cybersecurity that will protect and consistently monitor critical cyber infrastructure in smart cities. Details on the research achievements for handling cybersecurity issues in smart cities using ICT and Big Data technologies are discussed in this research talk.About this Lecture
