Emerging Technologies (IoT, IoE, Edge and Fog Computing, and 5G) and Sustainability Development Goals

Speaker:  Sanjay Misra – Lagos, Nigeria
Topic(s):  Networks and Communications

Abstract

This presentation gives the fundamentals, pros and cons and the relationship between IoT, Fog, and Ege computing and how 5G affect these emerging technologies. It is established the fact that the implementation of 5G can change our lives dramatically because it connects every smart device with super fast speed. 5G is ten times faster than present LTE networks. The higher speed effect IoT devices to communicate and share data faster than ever. 5G speed and connectivity with IoT devices, it is expected that we can achieve long term environmental sustainability towards establishing a green environment. It is because, antennas of 5G requires less power, and creating the protocol better for connecting small, battery-powered Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

In 2015, the United Nations set The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) to transform our world and are intended to be achieved by 2030. We will also present and discuss how SDGs can be achieved by applying these emerging technologies.
