Abstract

High-performance computing technologies are entering the mainstream in a transition ready to revolutionize entire industries.  Today, clusters, grids and virtualization infrastructure at the basis of cloud computing are liberating HPC computing from the confines of a few installations to become enablers for modeling, simulation and predictive analysis workloads.  Responding to this technology, new applications are emerging around the concepts of big data, business analytics, and smarter planet applications.

In this talk, we will give an overview of HPC technologies and how they are changing the face of computing.  Integrating innovations ranging from silicon technology to deep expertise at the algorithmic level for advances in high performance computing, these supercomputers employ and test new technologies and broaden the boundaries of computing systems.
