Mapping your Big Data Program

Speaker:  Andy P Koronios – Adelaide, Australia
Topic(s):  Information Systems, Search, Information Retrieval, Database Systems, Data Mining, Data Science

Abstract

Interest in Big Data has now reached hype proportions. Everyone is talking about the four, five and even more ‘V’s of Big Data (Volume, Velocity, Variety, etc.) and an unhelpful mythology exists about what Big data actually is with myths such as Big Data is about only about huge volumes of data or that it all an organization needs to do is to implement Hadoop technologies to respond to this phenomenon.  Although much has been written about the growth of Big Data and the opportunities for monetizing this resource, little guidance exists on how to start the journey of Big Data. This presentation provides guidance on how companies will begin their journey with Big Data.
