Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI), a novel problem solver and an enabler of disruptive innovations, is permeating everywhere. It is being harnessed in several applications tackling several challenging practical problems, yielding significant benefits. However, it has a few limitations and presents some risks and concerns such as bias, ethics, trust worthiness, and lack of human emotion which must be addressed.
This presentation will examine how AI is permeating everywhere, what users are concerned about and why, and how those concerns can be addressed. It will advocate the use of AI for social good, benefiting business, industry, humans and nature, rather than exploiting it for harmful, useless or fanciful purposes. It will outline best practices in development and deployment of AI systems. It will also examine topics of current interests such as measures to enhance trustworthiness and addressing bias, ethical issues and concerns, explainable AI, and emotional AI, and highlight opportunities that researchers, professionals and industry can pursue
