Solving Cloud Computing as a Security Vulnerability
Speaker: Gautam Srivastava – Brandon, MB, CanadaTopic(s): Information Systems, Search, Information Retrieval, Database Systems, Data Mining, Data Science
Abstract
Many systems are encompassing both cloud storage and cloud computing in their architectures. However, these systems are still vulnerable to a very well-known class of security breaches known as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, among others. These attacks can cripple infastructure leaving systems unusable for long periods of time. In this talk, we will discuss some basic facts about DDoS attacks and other common attacks as well as cloud storage and cloud computing paradigms. We will focus on the impact of such DDoS attacks on cloud based infastructures and then look
at some solutions that have been proposed. We will also discuss some open research problems in this space where attendees may be able to make a footprint.
