Efficient AI through and for Intelligent Programming Systems
Speaker: Xipeng Shen – Raleigh, NC, United StatesTopic(s): Software Engineering and Programming
Abstract
Fueled by Deep Neural Networks, recent years have witnessed exciting advancement of Artificial Intelligence. This talk first examines the implications of modern AI, especially Large Language Models (LLMs), to the development of future programming systems and high performance computing. It will show how to harness the potential of AI to fundamentally reform the nature of software, making it able to self learn, evolve and improve throughout its life time---just like humans do. The second half of the talk will discuss the other way of the reciprocal relations, how innovative programming systems advance the development of AI. It will show how novel reuse-centric optimizations may remove over 99% computations in DNN without sacrificing the quality of the prediction results. At the end of the talk is an overview of a broader range of results on related topics and a vision to the future AI-powered programming systems.About this Lecture
