Abstract

Understanding computing professionalism helps us manage the ethical and social outcomes of our technical decisions. This talk focus on recognizing and avoiding some of the traps of approaching systems development and technological systems as ethically neutral. The emphasis of this talk is on real-world moral and legal issues for practicing computing professionals. There is a focus on how to navigate decisions to promote positive outcomes and to mitigate the risks.
