When Intrusion Detection Meets Blockchain Technology
Speaker: Weizhi Meng – Copenhagen, DenmarkTopic(s): Networks and Communications
Abstract
Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are a basic and important security mechanism to identify potential cyber threats in computer networks. To fit distributed framework and enhance the detection performance, collaborative intrusion detection networks (CIDNs) are developed, which allow IDS nodes to exchange data with each other. However, data and trust management still remain two challenges, which may degrade the effectiveness of such detection systems. In recent years, blockchain technology has shown its adaptability in many fields, and can protect the integrity of data storage and ensure process transparency. This talk will introduce the background of intrusion detection, discuss the potential of applying blockchain technology to intrusion detection, and identify some open challenges.About this Lecture
