Abstract

This lecture covers a specific area of software's history and how it has evolved over time.  The topics can range from early computers and their software (up to about 1955), programming languages and complier history, operating system history, networking software history, programming methodologies and environment history, database software history, artificial intelligence software history, and security software history. For the topic chosen, it will cover how software in that area has evolved over time, what has caused changes in that area's software, and what trends have occurred.  It also includes what we have learned from development of software in that area that impacts software development in general.
