Thinking Tools for HCI Research

Speaker:  Kasper Hornbæk – Copenhagen, Denmark
Topic(s):  Human Computer Interaction

Abstract

Researchers in Human-computer Interaction face many decisions about methodology, research questions, and appropriate theories. Improving the tools that we use to think about these questions is crucial for individual researchers and for our field. In this talk, I will present a selection of such tools, including being wrong, increasing problem-solving capacity, implication types, and being clear about the concepts one uses. I will illustrate the use of these tools with classic and recent examples of HCI research.
