Bio:

Asif Ekbal is currently a Professor in the School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIDE), IIT Jodhpur. He has been pursuing research in Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Applied Machine Learning since the last 20 years. He has authored around 300 papers in top-tier conferences and journals and conferences. His research is funded by industries (e.g. Accenture, Flipkart, Wipro, Elsevier, Samsung, LG Soft), and Govt. agencies (e.g. MeiTY, Govt. of India, MHRD, Govt. of India, and SERB, Govt. of India etc.)
 

He has been serving as the PC Chair, Area Chair, Senior PC member, PC member and as a Reviewer to several well-known conferences including AAAI, IJCAI, ACL, EMNLP, EACL, NAACL/HLT etc. He is currently serving in the editorial board of reputed journals like Neural Networks, Elsevier; ACM TALLIP, ACM; Computer Speech and Language, Elsevier; Plosone; Sadhana, Springer; Journal of Intelligent Information Systems, Springer, Journal of Natural Language Processing, Cambridge University Press. He is an awardee of "Best Innovative Project Award'' of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE)'', Govt. of India, "JSPS Invitation Fellowship", Govt of Japan and "Young Faculty Research Fellowship Award" of the Govt. of India. He is listed in the top 2% scientists, published by Stanford University (2022, 2023, 2024), and in the list of top computer scientists, published by Openrsearch.com. He is a member of AI Standardization Committee, Govt. of India; and Secretary, NLP Association of India.

ACM Involvement:

Currently, Asif is an Associate Editor of the ACM Transaction on Asian and Low-resource Language Information Processing (ACM TALLIP). He has been mentoring PhD students under ACM Anveshan Setu Fellowship.  He has delivered a number of invited talks in the ACM Sponsored Winter and Summer Schools.
