Future Internet Architecture: Content-Centric Networking
Speaker: Rasheed Hussain – Bristol, United KingdomTopic(s): Networks and Communications
Abstract
Over the last few decades, the use of Internet has been dominated by the interest in content in different forms such as audio, video, images, and so on. It is worth mentioning that the original Internet Architecture was not designed for dealing with the content with unique characteristics and requirements. Therefore, National Science Foundation (NSF) announced a competition to bring forth new ideas of the Future Internet Architecture in the early 2000’s. There were few candidate architectures that were finalized and among them, Content-Centric Networking (CCN) was a prominent one which was implemented and still active from research perspective. This talk will focus on the journey from the traditional IP-based networks to CCN and a particular flavor of CCN namely Named Data Networking (NDN). The talk will focus on the current state of the research in NDN, applications, and outstanding research challenges.About this Lecture
