It is worth mentioning that the original Internet Architecture was not designed for dealing with the content with unique characteristics and requirements. Therefore, National Science Foundation (NSF) announced a competition to bring forth new ideas of the Future Internet Architecture in the early 2000’s. There were few candidate architectures that were finalized and among them, Content-Centric Networking (CCN) was a prominent one which was implemented and still active from research perspective. This talk will focus on the journey from the traditional IP-based networks to CCN and a particular flavor of CCN namely Named Data Networking (NDN).
