Speaker: Manoj Kumar Kumar – Sydney, AustraliaTopic(s): Human Computer Interaction , Web, Mobile and Multimedia Technologies
Abstract
Digital transformation is now the holy grail of IT organizations. However, most companies are striving towards engineering excellence with processes like the Continuous Delivery process and often forget about the usability, Accessibility, and Human-Computer Interaction factors, which have to be given utmost importance early in the cycle. Because the applications/products that we build should be accessible to all and provide a seamless human-computer interaction experience.
"Accessibility is everyone’s responsibility” – We all need to understand that Accessibility isn't
"someone else’s job". In this talk, Manoj intends to share some practical examples of baking Accessibility and Human-Computer Interaction considerations during your agile software development cycle, advocating for engineering excellence with empathy. This talk will encompass basics like the need for Accessibility and Human-Computer Interaction, followed by practical and simple ways to identify Accessibility and usability flaws. These insights will elevate the level of confidence needed to initiate meaningful conversations about promoting an Accessibility and user-centric mindset at the workplace. The talk will also delve into integrating accessibility and interaction considerations into Agile processes, spanning from planning stages to production.
This presentation will provide actionable insights on how to instill the Accessibility and Human-Computer Interaction mindset within teams. It will highlight tools and processes within the Accessibility and Interaction ecosystem that can be seamlessly integrated into product development. The talk will explore key aspects such as:
Where to initiate Accessibility and Human-Computer Interaction implementation
The potential inclusion of Accessibility and Interaction criteria in the Definition of Done
Identification of suitable audit tools to incorporate within the software development lifecycle Strategies for organizational transformation to establish Accessibility and Interaction as integral components, fostering a culture that prioritizes these considerations throughout the development process.
