Abstract
This talk begins by tracing the history of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and discusses potential advancements and future directions. AGI can enhance not only the capability of models but also the development of systems that can interact and perform on unseen tasks autonomously in complex and dynamic environments. This talk highlights the key stages in the journey toward AGI, from the foundational aspects where training and fine-tuning large language/vision models are accomplished to the development of interactive agents in which each agent can learn, adapt, and reason across various domains and tasks. We will explore advanced techniques for training, optimization, fine-tuning, alignment, and multimodal integration. This talk emphasizes the practical considerations for building intelligent agents capable of complex decision-making, maintaining coherence over extended interactions, and ensuring safety and reliability of AGI applications. We will also explore the societal and technical challenges that must be addressed in the pursuit of the mission of fully autonomous AGI. By the end of the talk, attendees will gain valuable insights into the cutting-edge methods shaping AGI development. They will also develop a deeper understanding of the critical technical and societal considerations for building autonomous agents.
